The  Energy Efficiency Training Center provides hands on, real world, focused training for weatherization programs, insulation companies, and job-seeking individuals in the fast growing building performance industry.  We offer three levels of training from introductory to crew supervisory in our newly constructed, state-of-the-art training center located in Tonawanda, NY.

Students learn how to install insulation in both attic spaces and sidewalls, implement air sealing techniques using blower doors and infrared technology, interpret energy audits and assure the homes of their customers become safe, comfortable and energy efficient.

The goal is to provide the skilled workforce necessary to help homeowners reduce their energy burden, and cut home energy bills; improve  the long term value and return on home ownership investment; and, provide for a more comfortable, and safe, living environment.
The Energy Efficiency Training Center was built, and founded, in the Spring of 2009 to answer the growing need for certified Weatherization Technicians serving the growing home energy improvement industry. 

Training sessions are available to companies and individuals in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Classes are held weekly.  Class sizes are restricted in size, and a non-refundable pre- registration fee is required.

The EETC is an affiliate trainer of the Building Performance Institute (BPI). and all of our sessions are BPI recognized providing Continuing Education Units to BPI certified energy professionals.

Our Basic Air Sealing & Insulation (BASI) training is a 5-day, 40 hour course designed to introduce the individual to basic building performance concepts and material installation techniques by the use of both classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory experience.

Students will learn how to install attic, wall and floor insulation and implement the air-sealing procedures necessary to increase the effectiveness of the installed insulation. The training is conducted by BPI- certified Home Energy Specialists, and is recognized by the Building Performance Institute.

Following the completion of this course, participants will be prepared to take the BPI practical exam. Upon passing the exam, the candidate will receive the Building Performance Institute Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer certification. Students successfully completing the 40 hours of training may opt to schedule a certification examination the next week at The Energy Efficiency Training Center.

The examination fee is $550.00. An application for a 75% rebate on the exam fee is available.  There is no written examination.
